so i took a lot of grief from some for dressing jack in the same costume again this year. but it fit him and honestly, he didn't know the difference...so, without further ado...yoda, take two. this time minus the ears which he refused to wear but with the addition of a light saber (i threw in a couple of last year's pictures for comparisons - enjoy!)
we took advantage of a glorious fall day on saturday to hit up the pumpkin patch. kristi, vince and kari (kristi's sister) along with annie, jerry and JD all joined in the fun. rather than put all the photos on the blog, click on the photo below to see the whole album of pumpkin fun!
in addition to the zoo and museum, jack trooped to what turned out to be a miserable football game by the bottlecaps, but he had a good time running around, visiting the dogs, playing catch and more. hopefully next week's outing will be a little more successful on the game front.
outta my way...
wheeee...
vince & jack
clearly not at football, but jack taking a rest at vince & kristi's - yes, he does slow down eventually
phew, what a busy but fun weekend. nana was down visiting and to stay with jack while kevin and i attended our final wedding of the season - yeah! we took advantage of having nana around to take a trip to the zoo and today we went to a member's only preview for the new please touch museum.
i'll just let pictures speak for themselves as to what a fun time we all had!
follow me nana, i'll show you around
the lion goes "rooooaaaaar"
smile!
thanks for the pony ride
on the way in
jack had to try every vehicle in the new museum
i got the pedals
the mail truck
the vespa
the dump truck
a ride on the carousel
and we ended the day playing with the ducks... good thing too because he was soaked!
so the recent string of rainy weather has left us stuck inside for much of the day. the grass likes the rain, little boys not so much - but we found ways to keep ourselves entertained while the rain poured down.
enjoying a little afternoon apple snack
stacking legos...
higher....
and still higher!
putting blocks on our heads is fun too! (ignore the pink diaper)...
so, we've been working on giving jack some choices lately, what to wear, what to eat and for the most part he does well and picks appropriate or healthy options. well, sometimes choices backfire as evidenced by the outfit he wore to school yesterday. notice the socks and tevas...time to put them away i think so they no longer become an option!
well, i finally opened jack's blog up to more family and friends as i'd been a slacker in sending out photos. i'll do my best to keep it updated semi-regularly, though you'll be on your own to check for updates from now on, no more email notifications. enjoy, leave comments, we love reading them!
as kev and i headed north for donna and rob's wedding, kristi and vince came to visit to hang out with jack (and crazy rosie). they had a great time and i'm not sure who tired out first, jack or kristi and vince. here's a preview of what i imagine much of the weekend was like - lots of running around and laughing.
jack was asked to model for an ad campaign my firm is producing for one of our clients. he was one of three children in the shoot (the youngest by far too - the others were 3 and 5), and may or may not get picked for the final ad, but had fun "modeling" nonetheless!
here's one of the photos from the shoot - it's for an awareness and advocacy campaign about nonprofits and generosity. this shot in particular is for a message about hunger awareness.
yikes, one month to the day since my last post...not a good track record. the past month has been a busy one, with weddings, work, and just enjoying life. jack continues to do well at his new daycare, he's really taken to his teachers and though he still gets a little upset when we drop him off is all smiles when i pick him up in the afternoon.
jack and daddy had their first long weekend together over labor day when i traveled to colorado for susan and dave's wedding (tales of which are best left off the blog! wu-wu!) the boys had a great time, they visited kristi and vince one day, went swimming at grandma and grandpas and clearly spent some time shirtless and learning to play the drums, yikes!
jack's streak as the giants' lucky charm continued with an opening day and week 2 win - and we were even bold enough to send him to daycare wearing his eli manning jersey! we've been spending time in between weddings relaxing at home, eating popsicles and just enjoying the last few days of summer (c'mon fall weather!).
mmmm popsicles....
catching up on my reading
here you go teddy, have some pineapple
multi-tasking, pizza eating and helping make the salad
we joined the philadelphia zoo a few weeks ago, and since jack was up with the sun this morning, decided to take advantage of the "member's getting in an hour early" privilege. and boy, are we glad we did - the big cats exhibit was great! all the cats were awake and active, and i got some great shots of them. the zoo is exhausting though, jack nodded off on the short drive home, but we all had a fun morning at the zoo, and now picture overload.
jack is becoming quite a good helper. he follows directions very well (as long as it's something he wants to do). here's a few of him helping around the house and washing the car - our new favorite saturday afternoon activity.
jack is back in daycare. we're all really going to miss his awesome sitter, christina, but are happy with the new daycare he is attending, it is a nationally accredited center and right across the street from kevin's office. the first day was rough, but got better as the week went on. hopefully it won't be long until he's adjusted and enjoys going every day (we have tears at drop off now). here's couple of picture from his first day of "school" (third time's the charm, right!?).
what jack lacks in verbal skills he more than makes up for in motor skills. we had a great time at the annual pool party and grandma and grandpa murphy's on august 9, where jack showed off his newly acquired (not sure from where) swimming skills. he wears a swim vest in the water, which keeps him from sinking, but does require some work on his part to stay upright (otherwise he'll flop forward or backwards). up until this most recent trip to grandma and grandpa's pool, we always had to hold him upright when he couldn't touch the bottom...not anymore! he walked right off his little ledge and into deeper water and started swimming (basically using a treading motion to get where he wanted to go). he also showed us how he can blow bubbles in the water...jack murphy, the next michael phelps?! who knows?! thanks for a great time grandma and grandpa!
